1.) Purchase a secure, high quality lock
2.) Use sturdy boxes of a uniform size
3.) Leave a walkway down the center of your storage unit to make it easier to access items.
4.) Label boxes for easy identification preferably on all sides
5.) Break down large items like furniture. Keep all parts together including screws by taping them to that item
6.) Use all storage space, including valuable space inside furniture, drawers and large appliances
7.) Put larger and heavier items on the bottom
8.) Put frequently accessed items towards the front of your storage unit, less frequently needed items towards the rear of your unit.
9.) Wrap furniture to protect from scratching and dust
10.) Boxes that are tightly sealed will prevent dust from entering
11.) Do not store anything flammable or combustible materials
12.) Drain all fluids prior to storing equipment such as lawnmowers, snow blowers, etc…
13.) Do not store perishable items in storage facilities.
